Meet Sam

The Corridor's Next Builder

Sam’s journey with the Club began in second grade, shortly after he and his family moved to the United States from Tanzania. Adjusting to a new country came with challenges—learning English, finding a sense of belonging, and navigating a new culture—but the Club quickly became a place where he could grow. What started as a way to spend time with friends after school turned into something much more meaningful. Through new experiences, supportive relationships, and a safe environment, Sam built confidence, improved his communication skills, and discovered a community that helped shape his future.

Now a senior at Jefferson High School, Sam has come full circle by returning to the Club as a staff member. In this role, he mentors youth who share similar backgrounds and challenges, helping them feel welcomed and supported from day one. One of his most impactful experiences was working with a shy new member named Tyler, who gradually found his confidence, built friendships, and truly came into his own. Moments like these reflect the lasting impact of the Club.

For Sam, the Club is more than just a place—it’s where young people are empowered to grow, connect, and thrive. His story is a testament to the importance of providing safe, supportive spaces where every child has the opportunity to discover their potential and build a brighter future. Sam now has plans to enter the workforce after graduation as a general laborer with one of our Career Academy partners.
