What is a Boys & Girls Club? Boys & Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids is affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. We are the fastest growing Youth Development Agency in America with over 4000 Clubs across the United States and on Military bases across the world.
Where are you located in Cedar Rapids? In Cedar Rapids we have four sites. The Main Unit located at 1501 Ellis Blvd NW is closed due to the floods in June 2008. Our South Unit is located at First Congregational Church UCC (361 17th Street SE and Johnson Elementary School of the Arts), our NE site is located at Echo Hill Church (1700 B Ave NE and Polk Elementary School) a third site at The Salvations Army (1000 C Ave NW) and we just opened up at Taylor Elementary (720 7th Ave SW). We are now serving all four quadrants of Cedar Rapids!
How much does it cost to attend the Club? Our yearly membership cost $12.00. We will never turn away a child that needs the Club. We totally scholarship over 75% of our members.
What makes a Boys & Girls Club unique? We offer our members Hope & Opportunity. We do this many ways. First, we are the large scale, primary prevention agency in Cedar Rapids. Second, have established goals that are simple.
How many youth do you serve daily? That depends on the time of the year. During the school year we will serve between 150 and 200 members daily. During the summer we will serve between 275 and 325 members daily. We have about 800 members. Over the course of a year we will serve about 3000 different youth. Some are members, some are day visitors and others maybe kids that participate in our leagues or attended events like the Friday Night Jump Off.
